Ashley Young received a phone call from former Manchester United team-mate Romelu Lukaku as he weighed up a move to Serie A leaders Inter Milan.
According to Italian publication Corriere dello Sport, Lukaku was on hand to tell Young about life in Italy under Antonio Conte as he contemplated a move abroad.
Young is expected to seal his move to Italy imminently, bringing the curtain down on eight-and-a-half seasons at Old Trafford.
Lukaku left United in the summer for Inter and has enjoyed a brilliant season so far, scoring 16 goals in 23 matches.
Young, now 34, was brought to United in 2011 by Sir Alex Ferguson in a £15million move from Aston Villa.
He has won the Premier League, the FA Cup, League Cup and Europa League in his time in Manchester.
Inter are currently top of Serie A but are only ahead of Juventus on goal difference.
