There was a sense of bewilderment in the aftermath of Sergio Ramos' penalty during Spain's 2-1 victory over Romania as the centre-back was shown a yellow card.
Referee Deniz Aytekin booked the Spain captain after he celebrated by making a gesture in which he mimicked wearing glasses towards a TV camera.
"They yellow card came from some confusion," Ramos said after the match.
"It was for my nephew."
"We both wear glasses and it was for him."
"The referee thought I was gesturing to the stands."
