According to Catalan media outlet 3Cat, a biographical film about soccer star Alexia Putellas is currently in production. The film will chronicle her journey from her introduction to soccer through joining Barcelona and her rise to become one of the world's top players. It is expected to be released in 2027.

Currently, the crew is filming in various locations in Barcelona and Valencia. The film's official title has not yet been finalized, as it still needs to be negotiated with Alexia Putellas herself, but the film's core theme is clear.

Director Lucia Alemany said: "Alexia is a pioneer, and being a pioneer is not easy. You have to break new ground and forge your own path. She really opened a door for other girls, giving them a dream to pursue. Alexia initially just wanted to play soccer, but it eventually became a battle against the world. She had to give up a lot, but ultimately achieved her ambitions."

In the film, Alexia Putellas' teenage years will be portrayed by 16-year-old Madicken Mauri-Sandak. The girl, born in Sils, Girona, is also a soccer player and had no prior formal acting experience.

When asked how she got the role, Madicken said: "Both of my parents work in the industry, so I'm familiar with filming sets, but I'd never actually participated before. About a year and a half ago, someone posted a recruitment message in the WhatsApp group of the Cavañes Football Club where I play. I submitted a video and received an audition invitation. After several auditions, I finally got this opportunity."

Madicken also expressed her admiration for Alexia Putellas, saying: "I think she is absolutely outstanding, simply incredible. So if I'm being honest, I think my chances of making a career as an actress are greater than becoming a soccer player like her."

Director Alemany was very satisfied with Madicken's performance: "I love that she's only 16, because she has the character and innocence that a girl her age should have. Her reactions during filming were very natural, requiring minimal direction. She just needed to be herself, because she inherently possesses the vitality this role demands, which made the filming process much easier."

As the film includes extensive soccer scenes, former Spanish women's national team player Virginia Torrecilla joined the production team to direct soccer-related movements and match scenes.

Torrecilla said: "She has been invaluable because she knows exactly how to move on the field. It's much easier to teach a soccer player to act than to teach an actor to play soccer. Madicken's skills are excellent; she knows how to dribble and can execute various technical movements very well."

Additionally, Torrecilla is responsible for keeping Alexia Putellas informed of the latest developments in the film's production.

Alemany commented on Alexia Putellas' involvement, saying: "She respects our work greatly, but she will speak up directly if she has something to say. Given her status as such an influential leader, I believe this film will be a success."

According to the plan, this biographical film about Alexia Putellas will be released in 2027. The 2026 Ballon d'Or ceremony will take place on October 26, and Alexia Putellas also has a chance to win her third Women's Ballon d'Or.
