A legend at 20 years old - Mbappe better than Messi or Ronaldo at his age

The figure of Kylian Mbappe has become a symbolic landmark of the city of Paris, alongside the Eiffel Tower, the Louvre, Notre Dame or the Arc de Triomphe.

At just 20 years old, he is an icon for his club and his city, playing in the MCN trident alongside Edinson Cavani and Neymar.

"Kylian is a club legend already; what he's done by the age of 20 is exceptional," club president Nasser Al-Khelaifi told MARCA.

"In Paris, he's at home and everyone loves him."

Mbappe is keeping his feet on the ground, too.

"Every day I work hard to enjoy my play and help the team; football is about enjoying, scoring goals and breaking records," the forward said.

With 22 goals in 20 games, he is the top scorer in Ligue 1 and is only behind Lionel Messi on 25 goals in the race for the Golden Boot.

Having scored 50 French league goals at the age of 20 years old and two months, he has smashed the previous records of Yannick Stopyta (21 years, 11 months and nine days in 1982) and Djibril Cisse (22 years, one month and 11 days in 2003).

"Kylian is exceptional," his coach, Thomas Tuchel stated.

Having broken onto the world scene with his phenomenal display for Monaco against Manchester City in the Champions League in 2017, he has scored 14 goals in 24 games in the competition.

At such a young age, he has already surpassed the goal scoring return of Ronaldo Nazario and Zinedine Zidane in the tournament.

He's scored at Anfield, the Allianz Arena and Old Trafford as he's been sure to leave his mark.

This season he has notched 29 times in all competitions, blowing away the figures of 26 in his breakthrough season with Monaco and 21 last season.

"If he keeps matching my records, I'll have to dust off my boots," Pele joked, after Mbappe became the youngest player since the Brazilian in 1958 to score in a World Cup final at the age of 19.

At his age, Lionel Messi was getting comfortable at Barcelona with 26 goals whilst Cristiano Ronaldo had 19, having moved from Sporting CP to Manchester United.

Only Neymar with 95 goals for Santos surpasses his now teammate's return of 75.

Zlatan Ibrahimovic requested that PSG replaced the Eiffel Tower with a statue of him, but for Mbappe, both Parisian landmarks exist alongside each other.
