Samuel Eto’o, President of the Cameroon Football Federation (FECAFOOT), has been handed a four-match suspension and fined $20,000 by the Confederation of African Football (CAF) following a disciplinary decision by its Jury.

The sanction stems from a disciplinary procedure opened against the former African Footballer of the Year over his conduct during the Morocco vs Cameroon match.
In an official statement released, FECAFOOT confirmed it had taken note of the CAF Disciplinary Jury’s ruling but expressed strong reservations about both the process and the justification behind the decision.
According to the Cameroonian FA, the ruling, which resulted in a four-match suspension and a financial penalty, is “devoid of any explicit motivation,” raising serious concerns about transparency and respect for the fundamental principles of fair hearing.
FECAFOOT further noted that the expedited procedure that led to the sanction does not fully meet the requirements of a fair and equitable disciplinary process.
Despite the setback, the federation announced that Samuel Eto’o will challenge the decision through the appropriate legal channels.
“FECAFOOT takes note of the decision of its President to exercise, within the prescribed time limits and in the required forms, the avenues of appeal provided for by the applicable regulations,” the statement said.
The Cameroonian football governing body also reaffirmed its unwavering support for Eto’o and reiterated its commitment to the principles of credible and transparent disciplinary justice.
The development adds another layer of tension to the already heated aftermath of the Morocco–Cameroon encounter.
