According to AS, Real Madrid has reached an agreement with 21-year-old Turkish attacking midfielder Arda Güler on a contract extension, extending their current agreement by two years, with the new deal lasting until 2031. This extension also signifies recognition of Güler's elevated status within the team.
The new agreement between Real Madrid and the Turkish international not only extends his ties with the club but also includes a salary increase commensurate with his standing within the team. With Mourinho's arrival, Güler has become a regular in the starting lineup, making 5 starts so far this season. Last season, he played a crucial role in the team, with 40 starts, contributing 6 goals and 14 assists throughout the season, making him the team's top assister.
Güler thus joins the ranks of players with long-term contracts at the club. New signing Diomandé's contract runs until 2033, while Vinícius Júnior and Cucurella's new deals extend to 2032. Besides Güler, players signed until 2031 include Trent Alexander-Arnold, Carreras, Tchouaméni, and Éder Militão. By the time Güler's new contract expires, he will only be 26 years old.
By extending Güler's contract, Real Madrid once again reaffirms its trust in a player who possesses both current and future value. Over the past three years, all coaches who have worked with Güler, including Ancelotti, Xabi Alonso, Arbeloa, and Mourinho, have praised him highly, emphasizing not only his technical ability but also his immense untapped potential to become a more versatile midfielder.
Mourinho once commented on him: "Some people are better positioned than me to speak about his development, as they have been working with him since he joined. For me, the quality of his play is incredible; his vision, decision-making, ability to organize the game, the stability he brings to the team, and his creativity... He is a player with fantastic potential, and he has already delivered very impressive statistics, not just in assists and goals, but also data derived from deeper analysis of the game. He is a young man who can make a huge impact." Real Madrid will witness Güler's continued growth until at least 2031.
