Footie paedo Adam Johnson has been cowering in his cell afraid to speak in case it jeopardises his "imminent" prison release, it has been claimed.
The shamed sportsman was caged in March 2016 after a jury heard he swapped seedy texts with the schoolgirl Sunderland fan and met her in his Range Rover.
Prison sources from HMP Moorland, South Yorkshire, and his sister Faye have previously said he could be released as early as next month.
Faye spoke of her excitement about her brother's release date, happy they would be able to enjoy a boozy night together.
BEST BEHAVIOUR
Now insiders told Daily Star Online that Johnson is keen to "not put a foot wrong" so his sentence is not extended.
The source said: "He's weeks away from release and knows that anything he does wrong, even minor, could see his sentence extended.
“He knows a lot of lads in there know the value of something on him so he's keeping quiet and not putting a foot wrong.”
The Sun Online have contacted the Ministry of Defence for more insight.
CAREER HOPES
News of his 'fear' comes after his plans to write to teams appealing for a contract were revealed.
Johnson reportedly hoped a football club will "give him another chance" when he gets out of prison,The Daily Star reports.
But his loved ones reportedly talked him out of the idea.
Johnson played 12 times for England and won the Premier League with Manchester City before he was jailed for grooming and sexual activity with a 15-year-old girl.
Johnson had hoped to be freed in October - five months ahead of schedule.
The pervert met his victim when she was just 14 when she would wait for him after matches to get his autograph.
Johnson soon began grooming her online, despite knowing she was 15, before meeting her twice in his £80,000 Range Rover in January 2015.
