Gabriel Agbonlahor has suggested that Casemiro should have been arrested for grabbing Will Hughes by the throat in Manchester United's win over Crystal Palace.
The midfielder has been a revelation for the Red Devils since his summer move from Real Madrid and has been an almost ever-present in Erik ten Hag's midfield.
But he saw red in the second half of the game at Old Trafford on Sunday, getting involved in a scuffle involving several players.
He put his hands around Hughes' throat, and, after a VAR check, was shown a straight red card by referee Craig Pawson, much to his surprise.
Speaking on TalkSport, former forward Agbonlahor insisted Casemiro needs to be disciplined internally by United, comparing his actions to a UFC move.
'Casemiro thought he was Brock Lesnar back in the UFC', Agbonlahor said.
'The way he was strangling Will Hughes, he should be arrested for that. Kids are watching that later on, on Match of the Day. Seeing Casemiro strangling an opponent.
'This isn't ice hockey in America where they have a scrap during the game. This is football, we don't want to see that.
'So Casemiro needs to be disciplined by Manchester United.'
After the game, ten Hag blasted the decision to single out Casemiro following a 20-man bust-up.
‘I see two teams fighting each other,’ said the United manager. ‘I see two teams where several players crossed the line, and then one player is picked out and gets sent off. For me, that’s not right.
‘When Casemiro is sent off for this incident, many more players should have been sent off. You have to be consistent.’
Asked if Ayew should have been one of them, Ten Hag replied: ‘Definitely. He did even worse than Casemiro. Casemiro, you freeze the shot and he crossed the line. Ayew definitely. You have to be consistent with VAR.
