Sergio Aguero has insisted that Lionel Messi, who isn't viewed in an exclusively positive way in his homeland, enjoys his time with the Argentina national team.
Messi has previously come under fire for his performances for Argentina, with some claiming that he doesn't play as well for his country as he does for Barcelona.
"We all know how much Leo loves meeting up with the national team," Aguero said. "The happiness that he transmits is fundamental for us because we know how much he likes the national team."
Messi comes into this summer's Copa America off the back of a disappointing end to the season with his club, which included that humiliating Champions League exit to Liverpool.
"No one wants to lose and Leo was disappointed with this defeats," Aguero said. "But he's a great player, he has experience, he knows that football is like this: joy and sadness."
Aguero and Messi have both lost three major tournament finals with Argentina - to Germany in the World Cup and twice to Chile in the Copa America. The Manchester City striker is hoping to go one better in Brazil this year.
"No one likes coming second," he said. "We have the experience. We will do out best and try not to finish second."
