Super Eagles forward Akor Adams made a dream return from Africa Cup of Nations duty, scoring twice off the bench to inspire Sevilla to a dramatic 2–2 comeback draw against Elche on Monday.

The Nigerian striker accounted for both of Sevilla’s goals, ending the club’s four-game losing streak in all competitions.

Elche, who have struggled for form with only two victories in their last 13 league outings, struck first within the opening quarter-hour.

Martim Neto slipped a pass to Aleix Febas on the edge of the box, and the midfielder made no mistake, drilling past Odysseas Vlachodimos, who was slightly off his line.

The home side extended their lead ten minutes into the second half when Germán Valera found the net, seemingly tightening their grip on the contest.

However, Adams—fresh from an impressive AFCON campaign with Nigeria in Morocco—was introduced at the start of the second half and quickly changed the game.

He reduced the deficit with Sevilla’s first competitive goal in five matches.

In added time, the 25-year-old completed his brace from the penalty spot after referee Ricardo de Burgos penalised Elche for a handball in the box, rescuing a point for Sevilla.

Another Nigeria international, Chidera Ejuke, also returned from AFCON and came on in the 65th minute as Sevilla finally brought an end to a run of defeats that dated back to December 17, shortly after both players left for international duty.

Adams featured in all seven of Nigeria’s matches at AFCON 2025, registering two goals and two assists as the Super Eagles finished third.

Sevilla coach Matías Almeyda had earlier confirmed that both Adams and Ejuke were available for selection after returning to Spain on Sunday following the tournament.
