Alexander-Arnold's post-Liverpool career remains challenging under Mourinho, and his future at Real Madrid appears uncertain.

The former Liverpool defender's situation at Real Madrid has worsened once again after he was benched for the fourth time this season. He could only watch from the substitutes' bench as Real Madrid defeated Sevilla 4-1 at home.
Sunday marked his fourth league benching of the season. The 28-year-old has started just two league matches and has been on the bench for three of the last four games.
Mourinho continues to adjust the lineup in search of his best XI, with midfielder Valverde increasingly emerging as the preferred option at right-back. Dumfries joined from Inter this summer, increasing competition for Alexander-Arnold, who is in his second full season with the Spanish giants.
After being excluded from the squad by Tuchel, Alexander-Arnold has since returned to the England national team.
The Liverpool academy product has faced particular scrutiny since joining Real Madrid as a free agent after his contract expired. In an interview published last September, Alexander-Arnold explained his decision: “It was one of the toughest decisions of my life. Liverpool is my home, and it shaped who I am today. But Madrid was the right step at the right time. It’s certainly a challenge, but I’m willing to embrace it.”
"The Santiago Bernabéu is a sacred place. You feel the weight of the jersey, but that feeling drives you to give your all."
"Of course, Real Madrid's heritage is undeniable. But what attracted me more was the club's ambition and the chance to prove myself in a new environment."
"Yes, I feel this is not only a professional transition but also a personal one. Moving to a new country and learning a new culture helps you grow as a person. It's not just about football."
However, things have not gone as hoped, and Dumfries' arrival has increased competition for playing time.
With Valverde securing the starting right-back spot, Alexander-Arnold has been relegated to the bench. The Liverpool academy graduate now stands at a crossroads, with rumors of a Premier League return intensifying in recent months.
Liverpool has consistently struggled to find a suitable replacement for the creative full-back. With Frimpong and Conor Bradley both recovering from injuries, the club's options at right-back are limited. Although loan signing Araujo has been effective and can play at right-back, Liverpool remains a potential destination for Alexander-Arnold as he looks to escape his struggles in La Liga.
Man City has also been linked with him, though that speculation may cool given the club's current circumstances. City was found guilty on 114 Premier League charges. While penalties remain subject to appeal, uncertainty over potential sanctions could complicate a return to northwest England for the former Liverpool player.
