Allegri's plan for Ronaldo to get the best out of him

La Gazzetta have analysed Allegri's tactics since Cristiano Ronaldo joined the club and he believes that crosses are the way forward with the most in Serie A this season.

Crosses, crosses and more crosses into the penalty area. That has been Allegri's plan since Cristiano Ronaldo joined Juventus in an effort to maximise his new signing's impact at the club and, it seems, that plan is not going to change much in the short term.

As Gazzetta dello Sport point out in an analysis of the first three games for Juve this season in Serie A, the coach's system is based on one simple idea: increase the number of plays on the wing by his full-backs and put as many crosses into the area as possible.

Massimiliano Allegri believes that this is the best way to score goals and his greatest chance of victory. And until now, the numbers aren't lying. in those first three games, three wins over Chievo, Lazio and Parma, the number of assists from the wings have increased and pushed Allegri's side to the top of the league. They have the most crosses, with 79, in the league with Inter sitting in second with 70.

The bulk of those crosses have come from Alex Sandro with 23, Cancelo with 11 and Douglas Costa and Cuadrado with nine apiece.

That's all well and good but there is one part of the plan that isn't working. Cristiano Ronaldo has failed to hit the back of the net. Juve have eight goals from crosses and Ronaldo isn't on the list of beneficiaries. That doesn't seem to be worrying Allegri, however, as he looks set to continue with the plan until Ronaldo is singing 'Siuuuu!'
