The applause was for Cristiano and his family, despite the Portuguese not being present at the stadium. He was left out of the squad after he and Georgina Rodriguez announced on Monday that they had lost one of the two twins that they had been expecting.
The couple announced the tragic news on Monday, shortly after the birth of the twins. Fortunately, their baby daughter survived.
