Argentine international Enzo's alleged remarks of racial discrimination towards French players after winning the Copa America have sparked a major controversy. Today, Argentine President Milei also expressed his views on the matter.
Following the incident, Argentine Deputy Minister of Sports Julio Garro demanded public apologies from captain Messi and Football Association President Tapia. This has caused differing opinions and contradictions within the Argentine government.
Argentine President Milei did not directly express his views, but he shared a supportive message on social media: "We have always loved and supported Messi. Messi shouldn't have to apologize to some European colonizers for a song that tells the truth; this goes against our ideology. Garro must leave immediately."
Additionally, he retweeted a post from an Argentine opinion leader: "Milei has always been a staunch defender of Messi, even when results weren't good. Not all Argentines support Messi. Today, envy and resentment towards Messi have spread to Europe, Mexico, and beyond. Messi has nothing left to prove; he is the GOAT."
