Steve Morrow has been axed by Arsenal following a planned restructuring of the club’s academy recruitment department.

The former Gunners defender - who notoriously scored the winner in the 1993 League Cup final before injuring a shoulder in the post-match celebrations after Tony Adams dropped him - has been told he is no longer needed in his role as head of youth scouting in a extensive shake-up.
Sportsmail understands as many as eight members of staff have left the Emirates Stadium.

Among those are believed to be former Chelsea forward Dave Lee, Kevin Beadell and Dan Rice, who all held recruitment positions at the club.
Their departures are still to be formally ratified by the club - but the recommendations for them to leave the Emirates Stadium have been made.
Per Mertesacker was appointed the club’s academy head last year and this is one of the most significant shake-ups he has overseen.
