Arsenal have been offered the chance to sign Luka Jovic from Real Madrid on a loan deal, according to reports.
Mikel Arteta is desperate to bring in a new striker before the transfer window slams shut next Monday as Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang's future at the Emirates looks uncertain, while Alexandre Lacazette and Eddie Nketiah's contracts are set to expire in summer.
But the Gunners' hopes of signing Fiorentina striker Dusan Vlahovic look increasingly slim and the club are reportedly weighing up a move for the Serb's countryman Jovic, according to football.london.
Vlahovic was Arsenal's top transfer target this January and Fiorentina were said to be ready to cash in on the 21-year-old but the Gunners had not heard back from his representatives and the player has his heart set on Juventus.
The north London club looks set to be left disappointed as Juventus are reportedly readying an offer of £50million (€60m), and Fiorentina are prepared to allow Vlahovic to leave this week.
Arteta now has to look to other options and a loan move for Luka Jovic could be on the table to help Arsenal through their short-term crisis.
Jovic's struggles at Madrid have not eased and the forward has not made a league start under Carlo Ancelotti this season.
The 24-year-old has not ruled out a move away from the Bernabeu this month and Real Madrid have reportedly told Arsenal that the striker could be available.
The Gunners are also said to be exploring Real Sociedad striker Alexander Isak, Everton's Dominic Calvert-Lewin and Lille forward Jonathan David as other options.
Isak extended his contract last October and Sociedad capitalised on the chance to insert a €90million (£75m) release in the deal.
Arsenal will reportedly negotiate that fee and, according to The Athletic, will make fresh attempts for Isak and Calvert-Lewin before the window closes.
