Arsenal could offload Mustafi as Juventus & Inter Milan show interest (Daily Mail)

Arsene Wenger is open to selling Shkodran Mustafi ahead of Thursday’s transfer deadline — just 12 months after signing the defender.

The Germany international only joined the Gunners last summer in a £35million deal but the club are seriously considering letting him leave. Inter Milan have already made an approach while Juventus are also monitoring the situation.

Arsenal want to recoup as much of the money they spent on Mustafi as possible — so a fee close to the £35m they paid could be enough to persuade the club to sell.

Mustafi impressed during the opening months of last season, but his performances waned towards the end of the campaign — although injuries played a significant part in his loss of form.

And Mustafi isn’t the the only high profile player who could depart the Emirates this summer.

Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain is also set to leave the club as Arsenal look to avoid losing the former Southampton star for nothing next summer.

The 24-year-old is set to reject a £180,000-per-week deal at Arsenal with London rivals Chelsea leading the chase to sign him. It remains to be seen whether Wenger will select Oxlade-Chamberlain, who is a regular in the starting XI, for tomorrow’s clash against Liverpool.
