Arsenal are reportedly in ‘pole position’ to sign RB Leipzig striker Benjamin Sesko this summer.

Mikel Arteta is keen to add a new forward to the Gunners’ ranks this summer as Gabriel Jesus continues to struggle for fitness and form. A number of stars have been touted for moves to the Emirates Stadium.

One of those potential recruits is RB Leipzig striker Sesko. The forward has previously been linked with moves to the Premier League - with Manchester United and Arsenal among those to previously be named as admirers.

And it now appears that the Gunners are the favourites to sign him. According to The Telegraph, Arsenal have a strong interest.

Rivals also in the hunt to land his signature are reportedly aware that the North London side would be at the front of the queue for Sesko’s signature should they step up their interest. It was previously suggested that he had a £43m release clause written into his contract but a deal is now expected to cost around £64m.

Sesko, 20, only joined Leipzig last summer from Austrian side Red Bull Salzburg. He enjoyed a productive debut campaign with 17 goals in all competitions.

The 27-time Slovenian international has four years left to run on his contract. His agent was recently spotted in attendance during Arsenal’s Premier League win against Manchester United at Old Trafford.

Sesko himself has already spoken out on a potential move to the England. Speaking in October, the striker said: “I am not thinking about where I want to go next.

“I don’t have a favourite club to be. It’s important to make the right decision from where I have been. I just want to focus on here and let’s see what happens.”

“It’s hard to say what will happen, you know?” he added. “I could be great or not that great! Of course, it would be nice to play there [in the Premier League] but first of all let’s focus on right now.”

Sesko will be aiming to round off his season on a positive this weekend ahead of a potential summer move. RB Leipzig travel to Eintracht Frankfurt for their final Bundesliga game of the campaign.

The side have already sealed a spot in the Champions League for next season. The same is also true of Arsenal - who still have hope of lifting the Premier League on the final day. Arteta’s side need West Ham to beat Manchester City, while they also must win vs Everton.
