Arsenal player ratings vs Brentford as Ramsdale, Nelson and Kiwior impress

  /  autty

How Arsenal got on individually in their Carabao Cup third clash against the Bees at the Gtech Community Stadium, with the Gunners heading through to the next round.

Aaron Ramsdale: Was under huge scrutiny and largely dealt with it well. Some of his passing even drew applause from Mikel Arteta. People will most likely focus on the moment where he was caught on the ball by Yoane Wissa, but his superb second-half save from the same player showed what he still has to offer. 7.

Ben White: Continued in the right-back position and did well despite having unfamiliar players centrally and in front of him. Unlucky to be booked for time wasting. 6.

Takehiro Tomiyasu: Showed his versatility with an impressive 90 minutes at centre-half. A great block to stop Janelt scoring, and some good intensity to win the ball high up the pitch. Looking more confident as gets more time on the pitch. 7.

Gabriel: Marshalled the backline well as Arsenal came under regular attack in the second half. Continues to show why he's such an asset to the squad with yet another solid display. 6.

Jakub Kiwior: Showed good versatility, starting the game at left-back and ending it at right centre-back. Not particularly adventurous offensively when at full-back. Looked far more comfortable when doing his defensive work. A sublime goal-line clearance late on was his highlight. 7.

Jorginho: After Sunday's mistake this felt like a big game for the Italian. With the captain's armband on he largely led well. Some good passing and at the base of the midfield and far more composed on the ball this time. 6.

Emile Smith Rowe: In a low tempo display from Arsenal, Smith Rowe was one of the few players who looked keen to make something happen. Nearly scored a worldie in the first half, but couldn't influence the game much with Arsenal struggling to hold the ball for long periods. 7.

Kai Havertz: Another game where Havertz struggled to fully convince. Some flicks in midfield looked great, but for every one of those there was a slow use of the ball or misplaced pass. Would be a surprise to see him return to the line up on Saturday. 6.

Charles Sagoe Jr.: Thrown into the side for his debut but it largely passed him by. Some decent moments in the first half, but largely looked a little too lightweight up against Aaron Hickey. 5.

Eddie Nketiah: A better display than his disappointing North London Derby showing but still left a little to be desired. Only got a few chances but wasn't as clinical as he could have been. 6.

Reiss Nelson: Grabbed the goal but was impressive away from that. Defensively diligent throughout and direct in the dribble. Continues his impressive run of form. 7.

SUBSTITUTES

Oleksandr Zinchenko: Gave the ball away almost catastrophically and didn't quite give Arsenal the level of control they would have been hoping for after his introduction. Odd sub given Arsenal were trying to see out the game. 5.

Gabriel Jesus: Brought his usual intensity to the side in the wing positions. His experience was a useful addition as Arsenal sought to close out the win. 6.

Mohamed Elneny: Came on too late to influence the game. n/a.

Martin Odegaard: Came on too late to influence the game. n/a.

Cedric: Came on too late to influence the game. n/a.
