Martin Odegaard signs
The news Arsenal fans have been waiting for arrived on Friday morning.
The Gunners have officially re-signed Martin Odegaard from Real Madrid after his successful loan spell during the second half of last season.
Unlike 2020/21, though, Arsenal now have Odegaard on a permanent basis.
Unfortunately for Arsenal fans, the club have confirmed that Odegaard will play no part vs Chelsea this weekend:
The transfer is subject to the completion of regulatory processes and visa requirements. Martin will not be available for Sunday’s match with Chelsea, and we await visa clearance before he will be available for selection.
Elsewhere, Arsenal revealed that Odegaard will wear the no.8 shirt this campaign:
Arteta on Ramsdale
Odegaard is now Arsenal’s fourth signing of the summer behind Ben White, Albert Sambi Lokonga and Nuno Tavares.
The north London outfit do not seem to be done there, though, with a move for Sheffield United’s Aaron Ramsdale seemingly getting close.
Mikel Arteta would be quizzed on Ramsdale during his pre-Chelsea press conference on Friday morning and had the following to say:
“We will see. There is still some paperwork getting done. He had his medical as well mostly done. There is still some things to sort with Sheffield.”
The Spaniard also had this to say on Ramsdale:
“I think they’re [Arsenal fans] going to love his personality, his character, the quality that he has a goalkeeper and what he’s going to offer. He has a huge, huge potential.”
