Arsenal are still in the hunt for Argentina star Cristian Pavon and have moved to open talks with Boca Juniors over a potential move, according to reports.

Change is occurring at the Emirates following the recent departure of Ivan Gazidis, though the Gunners still retain an interest in the highly rated Pavon who they were linked with in the summer.

The 22-year-old has caught the attention of a host of European clubs after a string of impressive performances, which resulted in a call up to the national team for the Russia World Cup.

While Boca are keen to hold on to their prized asset, the club have recently confirmed the player does hold a release clause.

Pavon recently signed a new deal with his club, though it was ensured a hefty buy-out was included for the likely event of a team coming in for his signature.

Club president Daniel Angelici recently outlined the details surrounding Pavon's position.

'Pavon stays, signed for four more years. The clause is 50 million euros, which was what we wanted to be calm. We wanted to sell it when we understood that it was the necessary moment,' Angelici stated, as report TeamTalk.

The new head of football at the Emirates, Raul Sanllehi, is said to be actively pursuing a deal to bring Pavon to the Premier League and has gone as far as to 'stage talks' with Boca for a transfer.

Arsenal currently sit in seventh place in the Premier League, after taking nine points from their opening five games of the season.
