Arsenal are closing in on their first signing of the summer transfer window.
Bologna defender Riccardo Calafiori is thought to be on the verge of a move to the Emirates Stadium. The Italian has shone at Euro 2024 and looks to be a real coup for the Gunners.
While an incoming looks set to arrive sooner rather than later, there could also be a few familiar names to leave this summer. Aaron Ramsdale is among the names who could be sold this summer - especially after David Raya ’s permanent switch was confirmed.
The rumours don’t just end there though. Take a look at the best of the gossip when it comes to transfers from the past 24 hours:
While Calafiori looks set to become the Gunners’ first acquisition of the summer, there still appears to be some work set to be done. Arsenal have not yet agreed a fee with Bologna for the Italian defender’s signature.
That is according to Corriere dello Sport, via Football Italia, who suggest that the Gunners have yet to commit to paying Bologna’s €50m asking price. Negotiations are set to continue between the two clubs.
Should an agreement be found between the two clubs, Calafiori will pen a five-year contract in North London. He will reportedly earn around €4m per year.
David Seaman has urged Aaron Ramsdale to leave Arsenal after David Raya was signed on a permanent deal. Speaking to the Daily Star, the former Gunners’ star said: “I’ve always said Aaron is too good to be a number two. He’s a fantastic player.
“He needs to play. Wherever that is, I don’t know. It’s a weird situation. Ideally, you’d love him to stay because that would be great for the club.
“But he needs to move for his career. And that includes England because, if he’s not playing, he’ll keep dropping down the pecking order with them.”
Following a move for Calafiori, Arsenal could stay in Serie A for their next signing. According to Pianeta Lecce, the Gunners are among a number of clubs interested in Lecce’s Patrick Dorgu.
However, they are not the only side interested. Premier League rivals Liverpool and Tottenham are eyeing him, while Napoli are also chasing the 19-year-old.
Dorgu, a left-back, made 32 appearances for Lecce last season. He has three years remaining on his contract with the Italian side.
