Arsenal transfer round-up: Ben White agrees terms; out of Manuel Locatelli race

  /  autty

After a hugely disappointing season in the Premier League, Arsenal are unsurprisingly the biggest movers in the transfer market this summer.

Moves for Nuno Tavares, Albert Sambi Lokonga and Ben White are all nearing completion as Mikel Arteta seeks an improvement in performances next term.

Departures are also taking place, with outcast midfielder Matteo Guendouzi already having left for Marseille on a loan deal with an obligation to buy clause included.

Fellow out of favour stars including Sead Kolasinac and Eddie Nketiah are also expected to be leaving the Emirates Stadium this summer.

Here, Mirror Football rounds up the latest Arsenal transfer news…

Arsenal pull out of Locatelli race

Arsenal have pulled out of the running to sign Italian international Manuel Locatelli from Sassuolo this summer.

The Gunners have been searching for a new partner for Thomas Partey in defensive midfield, with Locatelli high up their list of targets.

The 23-year-old has starred at Euro 2020 during Italy’s run to the final, where they will face England on Sunday night.

The Premier League side had hoped that they would be able to complete a £45million deal for Locatelli, as he is expected to leave Sassuolo this summer.

But they are facing intense competition from serial Serie A winners Juventus for his signature, with the player himself reportedly preferring a move to the Old Lady.

Amid that competition and the expected arrival of Albert Sambi Lokonga, Tuttosport report that the Gunners have given up their pursuit of Locatelli.

Kolasniac wants out

Sead Kolasinac is ready to terminate his Arsenal contract in a bid to bring his torrid stay at the Emirates Stadium to an end.

Kolasinac fell out of favour under Mikel Arteta following the impressive performances of Kieran Tirney at left-back.

His opportunities for game time became so limited that he was sent out on loan to Bundesliga side Schalke in January, despite the Gunners not possessing a back-up to Tierney.

Who should Arsenal sign in this summer's transfer window? Comment below.

It was expected that he would turn that loan into a permanent deal, but Schalke were relegated and pulled out of the race to sign the Bosnian.

And with Nuno Tavares expected to arrive, Kolasinac will be pushed further down the pecking order, meaning Arsenal are ready to cut their losses and move him on.

While clubs from Turkey and the Bundesliga are interested, no concrete offers have yet been submitted, with Ekrem Konur reporting Kolasinac is ready to terminate his contract.

Terms agreed with White

In one of the summer window’s most protracted transfer moves so far, Arsenal finally appear to have made a breakthrough with Ben White.

White has become one of Mikel Arteta’s top targets for the window, having impressed for Brighton last season.

The Gunners have already seen two bids knocked back by the Seagulls, who want a fee in the region of £55m for his services.

According to the Transfer Window Podcast, Arsenal have submitted a third improved offer, for £48m being up-front plus an extra £6m in add-ons.

But as negotiations between the two clubs continue, the Gunners are making progress elsewhere with the move.

Transfer insider Fabrizio Romano reports that personal terms between White and Arsenal have been agreed, a significant step in the hopes of completing a deal.
