Arteta eyes surprise Arsenal move for £43m star who flopped in the EPL

Arsenal are being linked with a surprise summer move for Premier League flop Moise Kean.

The 24-year-old winger failed to impress at Everton, scoring only two goals in 32 Premier League appearances in four seasons on the books at Goodison Park.

But the Gunners and neighbours Tottenham Hotspur are among those keeping a close eye on a player who has shone at Fiorentina this season, according to reports in Italy.

Kean has scored 15 times for the Florence club with only Atalanta hotshot Mateo Retegui finding the net more (20). And Tuttosport say that Keane has a release clause of just €52m (£43m) this summer.

Kean arrived at Everton in the summer of 2019 and featured in 29 Premier League games during his first campaign. But he was sent out on loan for his second season and went on to make a combined three appearances, scoring zero times, in the subsequent two years on Merseyside.

He then returned to Juventus before signing for Fiorentina last summer. There he has hit top form with suggestions that Juve, for whom he was an academy graduate, may be regretting their decision to sell.

Arsenal, who are currently on a warm weather training camp in Dubai, will look to strengthen their attack in the summer after manager Mikel Arteta admitted last week that he was "disappointed" by the club's failure to bolster his options in the winter transfer window.

The Gunners are chasing Premier League leaders Liverpool and have high hopes of a deep run in the Champions League. But their attack has struggled for consistency while Bukayo Saka and Gabriel Jesus are on the sidelines with injury.

“We had a clear intention which is always there is a window open to explore the opportunities to improve our squad with players that can impact it,” Arteta said.

“We haven’t achieved it so we are disappointed in that sense but as well we are very aware that we only want to bring certain kinds of players and we have to be very disciplined with that and I think we will.”
