The penalty that Sergio Ramos converted to open the scoring against Leganes on Wednesday evening was the defender's 100th professional goal and he has spoken about his joy at reaching three figures.
While he explained that he never expected to net so many, given his position, the Real Madrid captain is thrilled nonetheless.
"I'm a proud defender," he wrote to start off an Instagram post.
"My mission as centre-back, and before that as full-back, has never been to score goals, but to stop them.
"That's why reaching 100 goals is something special that, just like everything else in my career, I never even dreamed about when I started.
"We will continue to work hard and focus every day to earn your confidence and support."
He has scored 80 of his goals for his current club, three for Sevilla and 17 for Spain.
