Manchester City are planning a shock £90million bid for Tottenham talisman Harry Kane next summer.

Manager Pep Guardiola is assessing his options in replacing long-serving star striker Sergio Aguero and has the England and Spurs caption in his sights, according to several reports.

Kane has become one of the leading centre forwards in the world over the past few seasons, scoring 20 goals or more in all competitions for the past six seasons and winning two Premier League Golden Boot awards.

He has been the driving force, together with strike partner Son Heung-min, behind Tottenham's excellent start to this season.

Although he has moved into a more withdrawn role under manager Jose Mourinho, Kane has registered nine goals in 15 Premier League games so far together with an astonishing 10 assists, proving his ability beyond just goal-scoring.

Despite his excellent efforts, the one big thing missing in Kane's glittering career to date is silverware, something a club such as Manchester City are extremely familiar with under Guardiola.

A key player in that success is Aguero, with the Argentine notching up a remarkable 256 goals in 378 games during his time at City.

Yet at 32, the striker has been increasingly hampered by injuries, starting only two Premier League games this campaign. His contract expires at the end of the season and Kane is reportedly viewed as a potential long-term successor.

Kane put Tottenham on notice in March this year when he admitted he would consider leaving White Hart Lane if the club were not progressing.
