Real Madrid centre-back Raphael Varane was included in FIFA's World XI after playing a vital part in Real Madrid's third consecutive Champions League victory, in addition to starring during France's World Cup success.
The 25-year-old secured the ninth most votes for the Best FIFA Footballer of the Year award for 2018, a trophy his Los Blancos teammate Luka Modric secured, but Varane still seems a little taken aback by the praise he has received.
"I could never imagine that I would feature in awards like this," said Varane.
"This has been an amazing season and now we must continue to do the same.
"Of course we can win our fourth straight [Champions League title], nobody believed we could win the third and here it is.
"This is recognition for the work achieved with both Real Madrid and France."
