Gonzalo Higuain's agent has travelled to London as Chelsea look to push through a deal for the AC Milan striker.
The 31-year-old, who is currently on a season-long loan at Milan from Juventus, wants to cut short his time at the San Siro and reunite with Maurizio Sarri.
The move is a complicated one given the loan agreement between the two Serie A clubs, but Chelsea have been working on a deal for a number of weeks.
Sarri's hopes of signing Higuain, who starred under him at Napoli, were boosted on Thursday as his agent and brother, Nicolas, landed in the capital.
It is believed that Nicolas will speak to the Blues about a deal, with Juventus wanting the Premier League club to take over the terms they agreed with Milan.
Higuain joined the Rossoneri with a view to a permanent £32million switch at the end of the season, but Chelsea would be reluctant to spend so much on a player who is already in his thirties.
Sarri is determined to sign the Argentina star as he attempts to cure the goalscoring problems which have plagued his side this season.
Alvaro Morata has failed to impress and wants a return to Spain, with Sevilla and Atletico Madrid among the clubs interested in him.
However, Chelsea could attempt to send the former Real Madrid star to AC Milan in order to get a deal for Higuain over the line.
Higuain excelled under Sarri during his time at Napoli, scoring 38 goals in his final season before making a big money move to rivals Juve.
If a deal for Higuain isn't possible, Chelsea could turn to Bournemouth's Callum Wilson, West Ham forward Mark Arnautovic or Leicester star Jamie Vardy.
