According to Indian media reports, the organizers of Messi’s India tour have had their detention extended by 14 days, and bail has been denied.

After the initial detention period ended, Dutta was brought before the Bidhannagar Sub-Divisional Court. Prosecutors requested further custody, citing the need to investigate financial transactions and contractual arrangements linked to the high-profile event. The court rejected Dutta’s bail plea and allowed police to continue questioning him.
Prosecutors allege Dutta played a central role in the chaotic aftermath of Messi’s brief appearance. Police claim contracts with food and beverage vendors were finalized without prior government approval. Investigators also accuse Dutta of corruption involving up to ₹230 million and point to suspicious cash transactions tied to the event.
A senior Indian police official stated: “The investigation requires deeper scrutiny of financial dealings and pre-event arrangements. Dutta’s bail request was denied, and he has been remanded to police custody until January 9.”
“The very fact that Dutta managed to arrange Messi’s tour demonstrates his influence. If granted bail, he may flee.”
