Barca could follow the 'Mbappe formula' to sign Neymar from PSG

One way that Barça might sign Neymar this summer is by using the same method PSG did when they brought in Kylian Mbappe two years ago. This would see Neymar loaned to Barcelona for a season but with a compulsory purchase the following summer. 'L'Equipe' claim this is an option which is appearing more and more likely.

This type of deal is known as the 'Mbappe formula' because it's what PSG used to sign the French superstar without breaking Financial Fair Play regulations.

Neymar and his representatives are happy with this but PSG aren't. They would prefer to have more money available now so they could replace the Brazilian with another big-money signing.

Money, as you'd expect, is the major sticking point in getting a transfer over the line. Barça aren't willing to pay the €300m clause.

The other options include players, such as Rakitic or Coutinho, moving from Barça to PSG in order to bring the overall cost down.

Leonardo still believes he can convince Neymar to spend another season at PSG and has flown out to China in order to discuss that with him. So far no official bid has been made for the Brazilian.

PSG have set a deadline of the 10th August to finalise the future of Neymar.
