Barcelona are reportedly already in talks with Manchester United over the future of Marcus Rashford, who is currently on loan at the Nou Camp until the end of the season
Barcelona are already in talks with Manchester United over Marcus Rashford's future. Rashford is currently lighting up La Liga on loan until next summer after falling out of favour under head coach Ruben Amorim.
The 28-year-old has netted five goals and provided seven assists in 13 appearances across La Liga and the Champions League. Barcelona have a £28million purchase option for Rashford – significantly lower than the £40m United would demand from other interested parties.
Despite having more than two-and-a-half years left on his contract, Rashford's future at Old Trafford appears to be hanging in the balance. As we approach the New Year, Barcelona are reportedly already preparing for the end of Rashford's loan spell.
While a second loan is considered unlikely, Spanish outlet Sport claim the Catalans are working to 'outline an agreement' with United. The report suggests that following further discussions, they'll decide whether to activate the buy clause.
But for now, the club are reportedly leaning toward a 'yes.' However, the main sticking point remains Rashford's contract and salary, with one option being a long-term deal on reduced wages.
It is also reported that Rashford's representatives have already held discussions with Barcelona and are 'willing' to reach an agreement running until the summer of 2030. Rashford has already made his stance on Barcelona clear, expressing a desire to stay at the club going forward.

"I am really enjoying my time in Spain; the weather is the best," he said. "[It's been] A very big change.
"I'm learning every day, I'm enjoying it a lot. I hope to be here for a long time. I get along very well with Roony [Bardghji], also Jules [Kounde] or Frenkie [de Jong].
"It's a team in which we all mix. We are united. The team is fantastic, I just have to be in the right position. I'll keep trying to do this. We have to keep it up to be our best version. We have a lot more to do this season."
