Barcelona will have to find £5.5million if they want to secure a deal for Marcus Rashford this month.
The Spanish club are among those keen on the Manchester United forward, who is out in the cold at Old Trafford and struggling for selection. A move away in January is being touted with a number of European clubs keen on the forward.
Mirror Football understands Rashford’s representatives have held talks with Barcelona as he seeks a new challenge. The La Liga outfit do not have bucket loads of cash and just had to sell VIP seats to ensure they could register summer signing Dani Olmo.
If those at the Nou Camp want to bring in Rashford to further bolster their attacking line then it will cost them just over £5m to complete the deal as they would have to take on all of the player's wages.
Rashford has a number of clubs tracking his situation. Juventus and AC Milan are also keen whilst Monaco have shortlisted the United forward, but several of his suitors would struggle to afford the 27-year-old's wages.
Barcelona have a host of quality attacking options, meaning Rashford would by no means be guaranteed a starting spot, but the Catalan club have been credited with interest in him previously. They're in the hunt for several honours but need to regain their early season form.
Ronald Araujo, Eric Garcia, Ansu Fati and Frenkie de Jong are among those who could leave the Spanish giants this month, which would raise funds for them to conduct their activity in the New Year.
Rashford himself has spoken openly about seeking a "new challenge" having seen his stock fall at Old Trafford. Following his 30-goal campaign two seasons ago his form has fallen away and he's open to the possibility of pastures new.
He said: "When I leave it's going to be 'no hard feelings'. You're not going to have any negative comments from me about Manchester United. That's me as a person. If I know that a situation is already bad I'm not going to make it worse. I'e seen how other players have left in the past and I don't want to be that person. When I leave I'll make a statement and it will be from me."
