Barcelona set for £48million spending spree ahead of next week's transfer deadline

Barcelona are set to add more signings to their squad ahead of this week's transfer deadline with a possible £48million more to spent on new faces.

The Spanish giants have already splashed out on Robert Lewandowski, Raphinha, Jules Kounde as well as the signings of Franck Kessie and Andreas Christensen.

The recruits were part of the £170million earmarked by the board for transfers, and Barcelona still have a portion of that pot left to spend.

That figure added to the sale of Ferran Jutgla to Club Brugge means there could be near £50million spend by the Catalans this week - a figure that could grow further if Chelsea complete a deal for Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang.

The club are still keen on bringing in a full-back for each side, a striker if Aubameyang and Memphis Depay depart and a possible midfield replacement for Frenkie de Jong if he moves before this week's deadline.

Barca are looking at a number of options for the right-back slot, with Juan Foyth, Thomas Meunier and Hector Bellerin are being considered.

On the other flank Marcus Alonso remains their top target, but the deal has been complicated by the talks over Aubameyang. Celta Vigo's Javi Galan is being looked at as an alternative.

Bernardo Silva is another name Barca would be keen to add before the deadline - especially if they do end up losing De Jong - but it's a move unlikely to happen with Manchester City reluctant to do a deal for the Portuguese star.

Any new arrivals will still present some problems for Barcelona, as they don't have room on their wage bill and could struggle to register the players with La Liga.

They struggled to register Jules Kounde ahead of the new season, with the French star only cleared to play following the Spanish side manoeuvring some add-ons on contracts and sending Samuel Umtiti on-loan.
