The young winger, who is being eyed by other clubs, is a doubt for the next game.
Lamine Yamal is an injury concern for Barcelona ahead of their Copa del Rey semi-final game against Atlético Madrid on Tuesday. The young winger suffered a number of fouls in the Catalan side’s recent match against Las Palmas, and a photo was posted by the player after the game which showed his foot to be heavily bleeding from strong contact from opposition players.
The morning after the game, Lamine Yamal did not train with the rest of the group, instead remaining inside while the match squad went through their regular pre-match session.
As well as this, various reports have also suggested that the player is being eyed by some of Europe’s top clubs (including Liverpool) and Manchester United.
Lamine Yamal is not for sale, despite interest
However, reports in Cataluña claim that the player is happy on Spain’s northeast coast and will actually sign a contract extension that will see him linked to Barcelona until 2030. It is assumed that the new deal will reflect his status in the team as one of the top performers and a huge release clause would undoubtedly be written into any new agreement between player and club.
It is being reported that Lamine Yamal’s agent, Jorge Mendes, has sent a message out to Europe’s elite that the player is, under no circumstances, for sale and Barcelona’s upcoming Champions League tie against Benfica will be when club executives will meet to discuss how to proceed with the renewal.
Lamine Yamal spoke to Mundo Deportivo in mid-February, telling the newspaper that “I owe everything to Barcelona. It’s where I’ve grown up”, adding that those around him “wouldn’t even tell me” if offers were to come in that could see him leave the club.
