Bayern Munich are refusing to allow star duo Robert Lewandowski and David Alaba from playing in the UK for their respective countries during the international break.
Lewandowski has been called up by Poland and was set to play England at Wembley on March 31 while Alaba was due to represent Austria at Hampden Park when they face Scotland on March 25.
However, the pair will no longer feature in those games due to the strict German Covid protocols in place.
In Germany, any Bundesliga or Bundesliga 2 players would have to quarantine for 14 days if they are returning from a nation on the country's 'mutation zone' list.
The UK is marked as a 'mutation zone' country and would see the likes of Lewandowski and Alaba self-isolate for a fortnight, which would see them miss huge games against RB Leipzig and Union Berlin in the Bundesliga, as well as both legs of their Champions League quarter-final crunch clash against PSG.
Bayern sporting director Hasan Salihamidzic told the German media that Lewandowski would not be making the plane to England as a result of this.
'If it remains the case that the returnees from England have to go into quarantine, we will not be able to put Lewandowski down,' Salihamidzic said to German news agency Sport-Informations-Dienst.
When questioned about it during his press conference on Friday, Bayern boss Hansi Flick confirmed: 'We will not agree. If something changes, though, we'll support that.'
While the Bayern pair will miss out on trips to British shores, they will be able to play in the rest of their countries' respective international ties.
Lewandowski will be available for Poland's games with Hungary and Andorra while Alaba will be available for Austria's games at home to the Faroe Islands and Denmark due to none of the aforementioned countries being on Germany's 'mutation list'.
Austria will be fielding an already weakened side against Scotland due to the majority of their stars playing in Germany's top-flight.
