Bayern chief Kahn says new boss Tuchel proved quality dealing with PSG chaos

Bayern Munich chief Oliver Kahn has claimed Thomas Tuchel's work at chaotic Paris Saint-Germain demonstrates his quality as a manager.

The German giants sacked Julian Nagelsmann on Friday and instantly hired former Chelsea and PSG boss Tuchel to replace him.

The 49-year-old won trophies at Borussia Dortmund, lifted the Champions League with the Blues, and took the Parisian side to the final of the same competition, despite the turmoil engulfing the club.

And at Tuchel's press conference unveiling, Bayern CEO Kahn insisted Tuchel's achievements dealing with tricky personalities at PSG prove his talent.

He said: 'You don't have to discuss his qualities, they are impressive. His career is also a testament to that.

'Leading a squad like PSG is not easy. He led them to the Champions League final.

'Also at Chelsea he worked very successfully from day one. It's an impressive CV. There's always a personal development behind it.

'That's why we're very happy that Thomas Tuchel is now our coach.'

Tuchel takes over at the Allianz Arena with the side battling for the Bundesliga title, lying one point behind rivals Borussia Dortmund, and in the quarter-final of the Champions League, where they will face Manchester City.

His first game in charge will be against his former side Dortmund in a potentially title-defining clash on April 1.
