Bayern Munich goalkeeper Manuel Neuer could be set to sign a new contract which will take his stay at the club until 2025.
The 35-year-old goalkeeper joined the Bundesliga giants from Schalke in 2011 and has made 451 appearances during a successful decade with the Bavarian side.
Neuer is currently in talks with the club over a new deal, with his current contract expiring at the end of the 2022/23 season.
Sport1 have now reported that talks between both parties 'are going faster than expected'.
The German international is keen to extend his stay at the club until 2025 when he will be 39-years-old.
Neuer has been widely regarded as one of the best goalkeepers in world football during his time at the Bundesliga champions.
He was won nine league titles, two Champions League trophies and was third place in the voting for the 2014 Ballon d'Or award behind Lionel Messi and Cristiano Ronaldo.
Neuer is likely to make the top ten in the club's all time appearance list, with 49 more appearances needed to match Bastian Schweinsteiger who is tenth with 500 appearances.
A new contract for the Neuer could affect the future of highly rated German goalkeeper Alexander Nubel.
The 25-year-old joined from Schalke in 2020 and this season he was loaned out to Monaco until 2023 - when Neuer's contract is currently set to expire.
When asked about the matter, Nubel said: 'What I can no longer imagine is coming back (to Bayern) and not getting any more games. I rule that out.
'What Manu (Neuer) will do beyond 2023, I'll respond to when the time comes. My current focus is on Monaco. I want to go back to international competition with the club.'
