Benfica top last 5 years’ 10 most transfer-profitable clubs

A recent report from CIES Football Observatory shows that Benfica has generated €346 million in positive revenue in the transfer market over the past five years, ranking first in the world.

In terms of cumulative transfer revenue and expenditure over the past five years, Benfica topped the list with a positive return of €346 million. During the same period, Lille achieved a surplus of €273 million, Ajax €270 million, and Red Bull Salzburg €242 million. CIES points out that all data includes bonus clauses, add-ons, and future resale percentages, regardless of whether the relevant amounts have actually been paid.
