Turkish giants Besiktas are looking to rebuild this summer, and they may look to base it on an Atletico Madrid defender. Mario Hermoso is out of contract in the summer, and looks to be on his way out of the Metrpolitano.
Besiktas have been in contact with Hermoso via video call to explain their plans to him, and his agent has now been invited to Istanbul to negotiate a deal with them. Diario AS say they will need to get close to €4m per annum, his current salary, amid interest from England too. There have also been links to Serie A sides.
Meanwhile former Real Madrid winger Angel di Maria is also on their shortlist. The Argentine, 39, is out of contract with Benfica this summer, and Besiktas have opened talks with his agent Jorge Mendes too. It is thought that di Maria does not have the offers he wants from Europe’s top leagues.
Hermoso has also been linked with a move to Saudi Arabia and Aston Villa this summer, which will likely be the most lucrative of the lot. After five years at Atletico Madrid, it appears Hermoso will try his luck abroad for the first time, barring a surprise turn of events. The 28-year-old has often been questioned defensively by Atletico fans, but his ability in possession has won him a starting role more often than not.
