Betting Tips: Tottenham Hotspur vs Barcelona

Mauricio Pochettino's men are missing a host of key players through injury and our tipster is backing a match of few goals at Wembley on Wednesday

Tottenham welcome Barcelona to Wembley on Wednesday night looking for their first points in the Champions League this season.

Spurs suffered a disappointing 2-1 defeat at Inter two weeks ago, conceding twice in the final five minutes, and will be out to make amends in the national stadium.

However, it is Barcelona who are 21/20 (2.05) favourites with Betway to claim the points here and build on their 4-0 win over PSV last time out.

The hosts, who have never beaten their Spanish opponents in a competitive match, are out at 13/5 (3.60), whilst the draw can be backed at 14/5 (3.80).

Dele Alli remains out for Spurs, who are in somewhat of an injury crisis after Jan Vertonghen and Mousa Dembele were both taken off at half-time against Huddersfield on Saturday and are major doubts.

Paulo Gazzaniga could continue to deputise in goal with Hugo Lloris and Michel Vorm racing to be fit, whilst Christian Eriksen did not play at the weekend and may miss out again.

Barcelona will be without Sergi Roberto and Samuel Umtiti, with the latter suspended after seeing red against PSV.

Tottenham have had very little to shout about in the Champions League recently, with their defeat at Inter just another in a line of disappointing results.

That result now makes it three matches in a row in the tournament they have failed to win, going back to last season’s knockout stage when they drew 2-2 at Juventus before losing the home leg 2-1.

The same can be said for their opponents, though, as Barca have won just one of their last seven away games in Europe and have scored just twice in that time.

With Spurs set to be missing a host of key players and Barcelona struggling away from Camp Nou in the Champions League, the 6/4 (2.50) price on under 2.5 goals with Betway looks a solid bet.

This bet would have paid out in four of the visitor’s last five away games in the competition and could well be the way to go ahead of what is set to be a cagey clash.
