Match Report

Milan secured successive Serie A wins for only the second time this season as they won 3-2 away to Bologna, who had coach Sinisa Mihajlovic back on the bench for the first time since his bone marrow transplant last month.

Mihajlovic, who was diagnosed with leukaemia earlier in the year, received a huge ovation as he walked out pre-match, though his presence was not enough to inspire Bologna to a first league win over Milan since January 2016.

Milan's opening goal will have come as a relief to Krzysztof Piatek as the Poland international scored his first club goal for almost two months from the spot, before Theo Hernandez netted one at either end to put Bologna back in contention.

They were soon trailing by two once again in the second half thanks to Giacomo Bonaventura's sumptuous strike and that proved decisive, giving Bologna too much to do despite Nicola Sansone's late penalty restoring a modicum of hope.

Match Events

15' Penalty Goal! Bologna 0-1 Milan (Piatek)

Piatek tucks the penalty home! He hesitates in his run-up before side-footing powerfully to his right, goalkeeper Skorupski falling the other way.

Not in the corner by any definition, but Piatek won the mind games.

27' Calhanoglu's shot wide out

The first shot in a while comes for Milan. Kessie gets the ball at the right corner of the penalty area and pulls it back to Calhanoglu at the edge of the D, but he drags a low first-time effort across goal and wide to the left.

32' GOAL! Bologna 0-2 Milan (Theo)

Hernandez with his second goal in two games but what an assist from Suso!

The Spaniard drifts infield from the right and plays a wonderfully disguised pass in for Hernandez, who escapes the attentions of his defender and finishes via a touch off the goalkeeper.

40' OWN GOAL! Bologna 1-2 Milan (Theo)

A corner is whipped in from the left and Denswil crouches to head it from the edge of the six-yard box. He can only get a glancing touch, but it cannons off Hernandez's hip and in.

One at each end for Hernandez in the space of eight minutes!

46' GOAL! Bologna 1-3 Milan (Bonaventura)

Brilliant from Bonaventura, Milan lead 3-1 within a minute of the restart!

Bologna just didn't come alive as Piatek trundled down the right and pulled the ball back.

Tomiyasu cleared but only as far as Bonaventura at the edge of the area, with the midfielder shifting it onto his left foot before curling inside the left post.

57' Chance! Calhanoglu's volley saved

Suso floats a nice ball out to Calhanoglu at the left side of the penalty area.

He hits it first time on the volley, flexing to get his right foot over the ball well, but his first-time effort spins low into the waiting hands of Skorupski.

65' Donnarumma saves Olsen's strike

Skov Olsen, Bologna's brightest attacking presence tonight, cuts onto his left foot and shoots hard and low but straight at Donnarumma.

Bologna had players forward there, and there was a man on the left screaming to be played in.

84' Penalty Goal! Bologna 2-3 Milan (Sansone)

Bologna are back in it again, Sansone scores the penalty and it's 3-2! He drills a right-footed effort hard into the bottom-left corner.

Donnarumma goes the right way but can't get a touch on it.
