Martina Maccari, the wife of Juventus defender Leonardo Bonucci, posted a family photo which has caused controversy in Italy due to the strict confinement that the country has been under.
Maccari was celebrating her grandfather's birthday and posted the picture on Instagram which featured the Italian international as well as six other relatives.
"Two days ago I set foot outside the house for the first and only time since March 7. Food is brought to us at home," Maccari defended.
"We used Glovo to buy the cake and gave [the grandfather] a painting with a frame that we had at home.
"My parents go through an internal staircase to come and see us.
"They have been locked up like me since March 7," Maccari said.
She then went on to mention the work herself and her husband had been doing to fight COVID-19.
"Do me a favour, criticise everything: money, house, my husband or me, but not our civil sense and responsibility," Maccari added.
"We have donated and we continue working as much as we can to fight this situation.
"You are generating sterile controversy. If you are angry with the world, I understand, but life will not be resolved by so much useless controversy," she concluded.
