Mesut Ozil has rubbed salt into the wounds of Tottenham fans following their 2-1 defeat to West Ham last night.
The former Arsenal playmaker responded to a post stating that Spurs are the first side in Premier League history to fail to win five consecutive games despite going 1-0 up in each match.
The stats from OptaJoe also found that they are the first side to lose three consecutive home games despite going a goal up.
Commenting on the tweet, Ozil wrote: 'Who else should be able to break that record? Bottle Job FC is back.'
Football fans were quick to share their thoughts on social media, with many saying that they couldn't believe it was the player's official account.
One person wrote: 'The fact this isn’t a parody account is absolutely mental [laughing emojis]'.
Another added: 'Thought this was a parody account wtf.'
However, a third was to quick to point out Arsenal's collapse at the end of last season by writing: 'Remind me the amount of days Arsenal spent in first place last season please?'
Özil made 426 top-flight appearances in his club career, scoring 33 times for Arsenal before his retirement in March 2023 at İstanbul Başakşehir.
Despite playing an attacking brand of football, Ange Postecoglou's side have struggled to convert goals.
With key players out injured such as James Maddison and Micky van de Ven - who will not be back until the New Year - this is worrying times indeed for the North London side.
