According to Mundo Deportivo, Carlos Parreira, the renowned coach who led Brazil to victory in the 1994 FIFA World Cup, was recently admitted to a hospital in Rio de Janeiro due to lung inflammation. He is currently in the intensive care unit in stable condition.

Although the 83-year-old Parreira has been intubated, a medical bulletin from Samaritano Barra Hospital states that his condition is "stable."
The statement also indicated that it remains uncertain when the 83-year-old coach, who has managed the national teams of Brazil, Kuwait, the UAE, Saudi Arabia, and South Africa, will be discharged from the intensive care unit.
News of Parreira's hospitalization emerged on Wednesday, but the hospital initially only confirmed his admission without disclosing the reason or his health status, citing the family's request for "privacy and confidentiality."
Parreira was diagnosed with Hodgkin's lymphoma in 2023. Although doctors indicated in 2025 that the lesions had cleared, he is currently undergoing treatment again due to a relapse.
