Brendan Rodgers linked with immediate return to management

Brendan Rodgers' next job could be in Saudi Arabia, despite rumours of a return to England.

The Northern Irishman is back on the market after his shock exit from Celtic, which has been met with plenty of speculation over his next move.

Rodgers quit his role at Celtic Park on Monday, just 24 hours after the Hoops' 3-1 loss to Hearts in the Scottish Premiership.

He left with the Glasgow giants second in the league table, eight points behind leaders Hearts.

The bad feeling only worsened after Rodgers' departure, with chief Dermot Desmond launching a scathing attack on him.

Desmond took aim at comments made by his former manager, who had likened his squad to a Honda Civic with the expectation to drive it like a Ferrari.

In his place, Celtic have placed former boss Martin O' Neill in temporary charge, with Shaun Maloney as his assistant.

As for Rodgers, he has already found himself linked with a return to England, having previously taken charge of Liverpool, Swansea and Leicester in the Premier League.

Prior to his Celtic exit, talkSPORT reported that the 52-year-old could be on the radar of three top-flight clubs next summer - Crystal Palace, Bournemouth and Fulham - with all three's managers out of contract at the end of the season.

And the former Reds boss has now emerged as the bookmakers' favourite to replace under-pressure Wolves manager Vitor Pereira.

However, with his exit coming sooner than expected, Rodgers could be tempted into an immediate move elsewhere.

'Heading to Saudi'

Indeed, talkSPORT host and avid Celtic fan Brazil believes Rodgers could continue his managerial career somewhere much further afield.

Referring to the notorious Honda Civic quip, Brazil said: “Well, Brendan might just find himself driving a Bentley convertible soon, because from what I hear, he's heading to Saudi.

 Brazil continued: “That's the rumour.

“There's so many rumours flying about, but I've been told that's probably where he's going.

“If you think about it, where would he go from Celtic? Is he going to get a top job in England? Probably not.”

Brazil's co-host Ally McCoist disagreed, insisting Rodgers could secure another crack at the whip in the Premier League.

The Rangers great replied: "He could get back in England easy, Alan, come on."

He went on: “What's a top job nowadays? The obvious ones, you're right.

"He's not going to get Liverpool, Man United, City, Arsenal, or anything like that. But there will be jobs.

“There will be jobs coming around in the turn of the year that he could more than well be well suited for.

"But you're right - if he fancies a payday, that's the obvious one. I mean, Saudi would be clearly the obvious one.”
