Match Report
Chelsea were unable to respond to their weekend defeat to Manchester City, dropping more points when they visited Brighton on Tuesday night. This was their fourth Premier League match in a row without a victory, a run that started with the draw when Brighton visited the Blues in London at the end of December.
This time around it was a 1-1 draw, with Hakim Ziyech scoring from distance in the first half before Andy Webster headed in from a corner in the second.
It was after a fairly tranquil start to the game that Ziyech tried his speculative shot from distance and caught out Robert Sanchez, even though the Brighton No.1 got a hand to it.
Brighton finished the first half well, yet Chelsea did have a glorious chance to go two up just before the break, only for Callum Hudson-Odoi to squander it after being teed up perfectly by Mason Mount.
Having let Brighton off the hook, Chelsea paid for this in the second half. The home side started the second period well and found a deserved equaliser on the hour mark when Webster headed in a corner kick.
Over the following minutes, Brighton looked more likely than Chelsea to score the next goal, but Thomas Tuchel made a triple substitution to send on Mateo Kovacic, Timo Werner and Kai Havertz as the Blues sought the victory.
Yet, this didn't have the desired effect, as Chelsea failed to make the most of some late corners and leave with just one point.
