Bruno Fernandes has warned that Leeds' time-wasting tactics could be a problem for Manchester United if they go behind to their rivals again at Elland Road on Sunday.
The two old rivals fought out an exciting 2-2 draw on Wednesday night as United came from two goals down to deny Leeds a first league victory at Old Trafford for 42 years.
Referee Simon Hooper played a total of 13 minutes of added time, but Fernandes seemed unhappy with the officials at the end as he made his feelings known to them.
The United captain says United must learn their lesson if they are to beat Leeds on Sunday, claiming that time-wasting is 'a part of their game' with goalkeeper Illan Meslier particularly prone to it.
'It's really frustrating to be down in the first half straightaway,' said Fernandes. 'In the second half we concede another goal – a little bit lucky from them, but we still concede another goal.
'I think we dominate all game. They had two goals, they had some more chances but not something really dangerous.
'To bounce back as we did was really good, but obviously we don't want to bounce back to 2-2. We wanted to bounce back to 3-2 and win the game. We didn't.
'We had some chances that a little bit unluckily we couldn't score from. They had too many players defending – they obviously waste some time with the goalkeeper.
'That is also part of the game, part of their game, so we have to learn with that and make ourselves be in a position that we can win games without being behind to the result.'
Fernandes praised the contribution of the home fans in United's comeback. It will be a very different scenario at Elland Road, but the Portugal star insisted that Erik ten Hag's team will venture over the Pennines with no fear.
'The passion and the great atmosphere that the fans create for us was amazing,' he added. 'It was the push probably to help us to get this draw, but obviously it's not what we want.
'With this team, with the character that we have in this team, the passion, the desire, the togetherness we have, we're not afraid to go anywhere to play against whatever opponent it is. I know that I will be in good hands with all of them.
'I know that this team will fight back, will give all the best and will not be afraid to play whatever is the pitch, the stadium or the team.'
Fernandes also paid tribute to Jadon Sancho who marked his first Premier League appearance since October by scoring the equaliser.
'It's important for everyone because we want as many players as possible available for the team,' he said. 'Jadon is getting back, he's getting his minutes and he got his goal.
'It will hopefully be for us and for him a big boost for the rest of the season because we need everyone at their best.
'We know what Jadon can bring to the team. We know his qualities, what he can give to us, so we're really happy to have him back on the team.'
