Burnley and Chelsea are working on a compromise over Danny Drinkwater's salary to help push the midfielder's loan deal through.
Burnley have also considered a move for Tottenham midfielder Victor Wanyama as they look to bring in reinforcements.
The Kenya international looks likely to stay for the time being though may consider foreign options once the UK window closes.
