The very latest on Chelsea and their ongoing pursuit of Moises Caicedo with the Blues expected to make another offer for the Brighton midfielder in the coming days
There is an expectation Chelsea will make yet another offer to Brighton for midfielder Moises Caicedo in the coming days.
The Blues have already had three bids, with the latest one believed to be around £80million altogether, turned down by the Seagulls for the Ecuador international. Brighton are understood to be holding out for £100m while Chelsea are doing their best to drive that price down.
Going into Sunday's Premier League opener against Liverpool, Chelsea boss Mauricio Pochettino is very short of midfield options. The Argentine currently has Enzo Fernandez, Conor Gallagher, Andrey Santos, Carney Chukwuemeka, Lesley Ugochukwu and Cesare Casadei to choose from. The last two of those - Ugochukwu and Casadei - could well be loaned out for the upcoming campaign, however, leaving the Blues short.
The chances of getting Caicedo in before Liverpool at the weekend, though, look very unlikely. Also, Brighton CEO Paul Barber recently hinted the midfielder will start the Seagulls' match against Luton Town on Saturday.
Meanwhile, Chelsea remain interested in Leeds United midfielder Tyler Adams. The USA international has a £20m release clause in his Whites contract following the club's relegation to the Championship last season.
Adams sustained a hamstring injury back towards the end of last season and missed Leeds' 2-2 draw with Coventry City. Chelsea are contemplating paying the £20m clause in his deal but will bide their time with no decision being made just yet, football.london understands.
