A convincing 3-0 win away to Cardiff City moved Tottenham momentarily back up to second in the Premier League.
2018/2019 Premier League

Match Report
Tottenham emphatically bounced back from their defeat to Wolves by starting 2019 with a 3-0 win away to Cardiff City as they moved back up to second in the Premier League table.
Mauricio Pochettino was after a response following his team's shock 3-1 loss on Saturday, and Spurs duly delivered as they made light work of hapless Cardiff in south Wales.
Cardiff got off to a calamitous start when Harry Kane netted in bizarre fashion early on and here never looked like being a fightback, particularly after Christian Eriksen and Son Heung-min scored to open up a three-goal lead before half-time.
With victory effectively secured by that point, Spurs eased off after the break, though Cardiff were still unable to muster much of a response and Pochettino's men cruised to the three points, taking them back above Manchester City - at least until their meeting with leaders Liverpool on Thursday.

3'GOAL! Cardiff City 0-1 Tottenham (Kane)
DREADFUL START FOR CARDIFF! 1-0 SPURS! It's exactly the sort of start they needed, and it's a gift from the hosts! Kane starts the move forward in midfield and swings the ball out wide. The ensuing cross in isn't dealt with and Morrison's unconvincing clearance bounces off Kane and into the back of the net!
12'GOAL! Cardiff City 0-2 Tottenham (Eriksen)
SPURS DOUBLE THEIR LEAD! 2-0! A wonderful bit of skill from Eriksen who is presented with the ball on the edge of the penalty area with a lot of work still to do, but a couple of teasing touches help him open up space for a shot, which he cunningly rolls in at the near post with Etheridge rooted to his spot!
26'GOAL! Cardiff City 0-3 Tottenham (Son)
WHAT A FINISH! 3-0 SPURS! Three goals and three points surely for Spurs, who are running riot in Cardiff! It's an absolutely terrific finish from Son who takes a pass from Kane and takes on a defender, doing brilliantly to get the ball out from his feet and tuck a finish in at the far post!
29' CHANCE! Son's shot over the bar
52' SAVE! Hoilett's header saved by Lloris
GOOD CHANCE! Hoilett has been on for less than 10 minutes and he's already got on the end of their best chance of the match as he shows great determination to get on the end of Paterson's tame cross in from the right, beating Trippier onto the end of it, but his bouncing header is collected by Lloris at his near post!
61' CHANCE! Kane's shot wide out
Oof. Kane picks it up on the edge, he lets fly very early, but it zips high and wide by a yard or so.
67' BIG SAVE! Son's shot stopped by Etheridge
BIG SAVE! Etheridge does well to spread himself big and stand tall, using his shoulder to keep our Son's deflected effort from 10 yards after the attacker was played through on goal! Bamba did well to get a touch to that effort to take a bit of the sting out of it, while Etheridge did even better to react to the deflection!
